Why this blog

What You'll Find Here

zarinaazizzoda is built around three promises. Every post on this site delivers at least one of them.

Practical Travel Tips

Real advice you can actually use

From navigating Tallinn's transit cards to knowing which supermarket chains save you the most — I share firsthand logistics so you can move through Estonia with confidence. No fluff, no filler, just what worked for me.

Off the Beaten Path

Estonia beyond the obvious

Yes, Tallinn's Old Town is stunning — but Lahemaa's manor houses, the eerie silence of Saaremaa, and tiny bog trails on misty mornings are what made me fall in love. I'll show you the side of Estonia most tourists miss entirely.

Honest Budget Breakdowns

Exactly what I spent — to the cent

I publish transparent cost breakdowns for accommodation, food, transport, and activities on every trip. Whether you're a shoestring backpacker or a mid-range traveller, you'll know what to expect before you book a single thing.

Every post is based on a real trip I took — never sponsored itineraries, never copy-pasted guides.

Lahemaa National Park: Estonia's Green Secret

Just an hour from Tallinn lies a forest so old and quiet it feels like the world has not yet been invented. I spent two days losing myself in it.

Tartu in 36 Hours: A University Town Worth the Detour

Estonia's second city is smaller, slower, and somehow more Estonian than Tallinn. It took me exactly 36 hours to fall in love with it.

Saaremaa: Windmills, Meteorites and Very Good Bread

Estonia's largest island has a 10,000-year-old meteorite crater, centuries-old windmills, and a local rye bread that I am still dreaming about.

Toompea at Dusk: When Tallinn Feels Like a Fairy Tale

"Standing on the limestone walls of Toompea at dusk, the terracotta rooftops glowing below me, I forgot entirely that I'd been travelling alone. The city held me like old company."

— zarinaazizzoda

A personal dispatch from the limestone ramparts of Tallinn's medieval hill — on light, solitude, marzipan, and why some cities earn their reputation honestly.

The Person Behind the Blog

Hi, I'm Zarina — a Tajik girl quietly in love with Estonia.

I grew up in Dushanbe, surrounded by the warm dust of Central Asian summers and the smell of freshly baked non bread. Then, one autumn, I landed in Tallinn — and something shifted. The amber lanterns, the Gothic spires, the maddening silence of a Estonian forest in November. I kept coming back.

zarinaazizzoda is my honest, personal account of exploring Estonia as an outsider who became a devoted regular. I write about what surprised me, what confused me, and what made me fall genuinely, completely in love with this small Nordic country.

No sponsored fluff. No polished itineraries that pretend everything went smoothly. Just real stories, practical tips, and the quiet wonder of crossing cultures.
